"one stone, one bullet or one hand grenade?"

"kill two birds with
one stone"
it's a popular phrase. has been for a very long time. i used it today. i'm doing a side-project and getting school credit for it and so i said "i'm killing two birds with one stone." and then i thought, "why did i just say that?"
i guess my question really is, are there people actually going around killing birds with stones? i mean, if you really wanted to kill a poor defenseless bird, wouldn't you use a gun or something? wouldn't you have a better chance of killing two birds with one bullet? i think you would. especially if that gun had a laser-site. that HAS to have better accuracy than a stone. but even then, what are the odds that you're really gonna get two of them with only one bullet. i think you'd need to be hunting birds with hand grenades. then you could get like 50 birds at once.
so, let's break it down.
- two birds with one stone... very slim chances. first, you have to actually hit the first bird and hope that, somehow, the stone ricochets and hits a second bird hard enough to kill it.
- two birds with one bullet from a laser-site assisted gun... definitely better odds on the first bird going down. you've got accuracy and power on your side. but unless the other bird is standing directly behind the first, your chances of getting two are not great.
- two birds with one hand grenade... pretty much you just gotta lob it in the general direction without frightening the birds away and you'll take out an entire generation of birds.
so, from now on, join me in saying "i'm killing 50* birds with one hand grenade." it just makes more sense.

* feel free to substitute 50 with whatever number of birds you are actually killing (aka- things you are accomplishing)
